Columbus' Tree Planting Program Under Review

columbus.gov

A tree planting program proposed during the administration of former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman is being reevaluated after failing to meet its goal.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks department says the program called Branch Out Columbus had a goal of planting 300 thousand new trees by 2020, but less than 40 thousand have been planted since 2015. Scientific researchers urge the program  be completed as a way to alleviate the impact of climate change.
