Former Postal Worker Charged In Double-Murder To Be Tried In Federal Court

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

The former postal worker accused of fatally shooting his supervisor and a postmaster outside her apartment will be tried in federal court.

Franklin County and federal prosecutors say sending the case of 24-year-old DeShaune Stewart to federal court was a joint decision. Stewart allegedly killed 52-year-old Lance Dempsey at a post office in Dublin on December 23, then killed 53-year-old Ginger Ballard at an apartment complex. Police say the violence appeared to be retaliation against those involved in Stewart's pending dismissal at work.
