Franklin County Sheriff's Office

A Sandusky man will serve 18 years in prison for shooting and killing an innocent bystander during his shootout with another man in Columbus last year. 29-year-old Rico Brown  pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault charges in the death of Champaine Adkins. Prosecutors say the shootout with 25-year-old Rayshwan Penn followed an argument among a group of women outside the Belcher Apartments on the north side. Penn is serving and eight year sentence.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
